Forthcoming Issues

OSA realizes that fast time to publication is important to authors and readers. To help take full advantage of our electronic publishing workflow, OSA journals will begin publishing papers online one at a time as soon as they are ready.

Q:    Is the Forthcoming paper the final version?
A:    Yes, the paper posted on the Forthcoming page is the final version of the paper and can be cited as published.

Q:    How is Forthcoming different from Early Posting?
A:    The Early Posting article is the author's original accepted manuscript. The Forthcoming issue displays final copyedited, typeset, and paginated versions of articles.

Q:    When does a Forthcoming issue close?
A:    On the issue date for each journal, all articles mounted on the Forthcoming page will become fixed as the current issue and archived, and new articles will then be added to a new Forthcoming issue.

Q:    Why is OSA making this change?
A:    The "Forthcoming" approach will not only ensure the fastest possible turn-around time for the authors; it will also provide readers with the fastest way to keep up on the latest research.

Q:    What about Table of Contents categories?
A:    Table of Contents categories will be assigned either the day of posting or shortly after.
