Abstract
This paper discusses an optical radar system with a circular search zone, capable of detecting objects from the radiation contrast and locking onto them, using reflected laser radiation, cyclic tracking of the discriminated objects by plotting the optimum scanning trajectory, locking onto a high-priority object, and accurately tracking the object. The moving optomechanical modules are equipped with control units and have current-status sensors and digital electric servos, allowing the functions of the system to be program-controlled. A method is proposed and implemented for controlling the actuators, based on the use of a trajectory-specification generator. Results are presented that characterize the accuracy with which the trajectory specifications are satisfied by the electrical servos of the actuators.
