Abstract

The optical constants of high-index iivi compound thin films on low-index glass waveguides are determined from the concept of resonant thickness using the complex dispersion relation together with experimental properties of guided waves. The results are compared with the refractive indices of bulk crystals of iivi compounds (CdS, ZnSe, ZnS, and ZnTe).
