Abstract

New spectroscopic constants have been calculated for seven isotopic variants of carbon dioxide. Extensive new high resolution observations provide access to the majority of the vibrational energy levels for 12C16O2 and 13C16O2 below 7000 cm−1 and for 12C16O18O below ∼5000 cm−1. Recent intensity measurements provided by Fourier transform spectroscopy have been incorporated with parallel band intensity calculations to furnish improved band intensities for a significant number of carbon dioxide bands. An updated list of 634 bands which play a role in terrestrial atmospheric transmission and emission problems is given. The constants provided in this paper are also of use in preliminary analysis for identifying transitions observed for the first time or measured to higher rovibrational levels.
