GaAs directional coupler devices: design considerations

Not Accessible

Abstract

Symmetrical and asymmetrical directional couplers in GaAs are analyzed. The performance of these devices as wavelength filters and switches is examined. It is shown that asymmetrical couplers require shorter coupling length and smaller index change for switching of light between the two waveguides.
