Influence of spherical aberration of an interferometric system on the measurement error in the case of a finite fringe observation field

Abstract

The propagation of the interfering waves through the aberrated optical system of an interferometer is analyzed. The general formula describing the measurement error is found. The role of different parameters is described. A Fizeau interferometer is used as a model for the analysis.
