Abstract
The paper describes in some detail the performance of the Bendix M306 magnetic electron multiplier as a photomultiplier in the extreme uv region of the spectrum. The comparative performance of both the model M310 magnetic electron multiplier and of two types of Mullard channel intensifier are also given. Absolute efficiencies as a function of wavelength are quoted, typical values being for the M306 and M310 multipliers, 2.5% at 1000 Å, 5.0% at 600 Å, and 2.0% at 300 Å, and for the channel intensifiers, 3.0%, 6.5%, and 6.5%, respectively, at these wavelengths.
