Abstract
Accurate quantitative and qualitative measurements of the angle-of-incidence dependence of the second-harmonic generation of ruby-laser light in clean silver metal surfaces were made. It is shown that within experimental accuracy, agreement with theory is obtained only when in addition to free-electron effects, bound-electron effects are considered.
