Abstract
Threshold amounts of light variation needed to see flicker and to see a flickering line, as functions of frequency of variation, are significantly different. Sensitivity to flicker increases between 0.4 and approximately 10 Hz, and shows a subsequent decrease at higher frequencies; sensitivity to spatial contrast decreases gradually between 3 and 30 Hz.
