Abstract

We present here a new restoring algorithm that is based on use of a “median-window filter.” This is intrinsically a nonlinear operation that, when cyclically used with any linear restoring algorithm, can typically enhance edge gradients by a factor of 5:1 with nearly a complete absence of Gibbs oscillation.
