Fraunhofer diffraction in the beam approximation from two longitudinally separated slits

Abstract

An analytic expression is obtained based on the paraxial approximation for the far-field diffraction pattern of two longitudinally separated slits that lie in the Fresnel region of each other. The result obtained is also useful in unstable-resonator calculations.
