Abstract
A general procedure for pupil-function design for two-channel bipolar incoherent spatial filtering is presented. The procedure considers both the feasibility, or existence, of the synthesis and the specification of the pupil functions once their existence has been established. Further, the procedure is not specific to a particular type of synthesis, nor is it ad hoc. A comparison is made with other design procedures, and an example of the proposed procedure is presented.
