Abstract

Transmission control of dispersion-managed solitons by means of fixed- and sliding-frequency filters is analyzed. Analytical expressions for the steady-state pulse parameters and for the strength of stabilizing pulse energy and frequency are derived. It is shown that the strength of stabilizing pulse energy by filters is weaker for dispersion-managed solitons with stronger dispersion management, which may be advantageous in sending information by imposing modulation on the amplitude of pulse trains, such as in passive-loop-back line monitoring.
