Ultrafast switching with a single-fiber interferometer

Abstract

All-optical switching with femtosecond and picosecond pulses is demonstrated in a single-fiber interferometer in which the role of the two arms is played by two mutually delayed versions of the same pulse. This technique eliminates thermal and acoustic imbalances of the interferometer.
