Abstract
A yttrium aluminum borate [] (YAB) crystal with UV cutoff wavelength of is used as the nonlinear optical crystal for fourth harmonic generation. The fundamental frequency laser at from an Nd: master oscillator power amplifier laser was frequency doubled to . Using the type I phase-matching YAB crystal, a average power UV laser was obtained at the pulse repetition frequency of , corresponding to the conversion efficiency of 12.3% from 532 to . The experimental results show great potential for the application of using YAB as a nonlinear optical crystal to get high-power fourth harmonic generation.
