Abstract

Light attenuation in planar, z-cut LiNbO3:Ti optical waveguides was measured via the pyroelectric voltage resulting from absorption. By using a sliding Hg electrode, accuracies of 0.01–0.05 dB/cm have been obtained with 0.02–1-mW optical power.
