Abstract

A two-component saturable gas absorber composed of formic acid and SF6 in separate cells has been successfully used as an isolator in a TEA-CO2-amplifier chain for amplifying several 9-μm-band transitions. This isolator suppressed all amplifier self-oscillations in both the 9- and 10-μm bands and was saturated at intensities over 1 MW cm−2 by 130-nsec, 9-μm band pulses.
