Abstract

Absorption and near-infrared emission properties of Bi-doped “powder-in-tube” fabricated fibers were compared with the bulk glass samples of the same Mg-Al-silicate glass composition. The losses in the fibers were an order of magnitude less than in Ir crucible melted glasses.
