Abstract

The efficiency of continuous-wave (cw) sodium LGS in terms of return flux per watt of laser power depends strongly on the laser spectrum, polarization, and spot size. Using pulsed lasers adds another level of complexity. We present the results of extensive Bloch equation numerical simulations, both for cw and for various pulsed laser formats and applications.
