Abstract

A Ti sapphire laser has been pumped with a dense-plasma light source, a hypocycloidal-pinch (HCP) arrays. A high energy laser pulse of 0.5 J has been obtained with pulse width 2 μsec when a 6.4 mm diameter Ti sapphire rod with length of 76.2 mm was employed as the laser rod. The operating characteristics of the HCP pumped Ti sapphire laser is discussed in this report.
