Abstract

High Cr3+ doping levels, up to 8 mole percent, and low losses have been obtained with the tunable solid- state laser material LiCaAlF6:Cr3+ (Cr:LiCAF). Measurements and calculations show that high pumping and extraction efficiencies are possible with the improved material.
