Abstract
The nonradiative relaxation time within the 3T2 manifold of chromium doped forsterite (Cr4+: Mg2SiO4) was determined using a picosecond excite-and-probe gain technique. A value of 10 ± 5 ps was determined for intra-3T2 vibrational relaxation time.
