Laser performance of an ytterbium doped new single crystal: Yb3+:Ca4Gd0(B03)3 (Yb:GdCOB) under end pumped titanium sapphire

Abstract

The spectroscopic and laser characteristics of a new ytterbium doped material are presented. The absorption and emission cross sections of Yb:GdCOB are given. A slope efficiency of 42% for a 1043 nm laser emission was achieved.
