High power picosecond amplification in a low-nonlinearity single-mode photonic crystal fiber

Abstract

We report on the amplification of 10-ps pulses up to 60 kW peak power in an ytterbium-doped single-mode photonic crystal fiber. Due to the significantly reduced nonlinearity spectral broadening due to SPM is extensively suppressed.
