Testing the Broadband Phase Coherence of a Mode Locked Laser at Microhertz Relative Linewidth

Abstract

We report new limits on the phase coherence of the mode-locking process in an octave-spanning Ti: Sapphire comb. We find the mode-locking mechanism correlates optical phase across an octave with less than 2.5 µHz relative linewidth.
