Generating quiet continua: noise limitations to supercontinuum generation in photonic crystal fiber*

Abstract

SC generation in photonic crystal fiber can be associated with intensity fluctuations arising from the nonlinear amplification of input pulse noise. Experiments and simulations are used to identify system parameters that minimize these fluctuations.
