Strong Bragg Gratings made with IR Femtosecond Radiation in Heavily Doped Er3+ and Yb3+ Silica Fibers

Abstract

Strong FBGs (Δn>10–3) made with femtosecond IR radiation in a distribution of Er3+ and Yb3+ doped silica fibers have more rapid grating growth but lower maximum index modulations than FBGs made in silica core fibers.
