Simple and efficient UWB pulse generator

Abstract

We present a low cost, low power consumption technique for accurate ultra-wideband (UWB) pulse shaping. Improvements are obtained by using a balanced detection configuration with two thermally apodized gratings and a gain switched laser diode.
