In the heart of nanogratings made up during femtosecond laser irradiation

Abstract

We observed the intimate structure of nanogratings made up by femtosecond laser irradiation. We reveal that nanoplans are meso-porous glass layers that are at the root of the strong refractive index contrast. Nanopores formation is likely due to glass decomposition.
