Investigating cellular metabolic function using fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy

Abstract

Fluorescence methods are being investigated for non-invasive tissue diagnostics. Here, we describe how fluorescence lifetime imaging can probe metabolic function in individual living cells, using both endogenous and exogenous fluorophore lifetimes for contrast.
