Abstract
NIR spectroscopy is widely used to determine the optical properties in diffuse media in wavelength ranges from 350 up to 1000 nm. However, wavelength ranges that start at 1000 nm, dominated by water and lipid absorption, have not extensively been investigated. We study the water and lipid concentrations in diffuse media in the wavelength range of 1000 to 1500 nm by diffuse optical spectroscopy. We demonstrate that water and lipid content can be determined accurately by applying the diffusion approximation solution to spectra.
