Abstract

We report successful demonstration of a sub-GHz linewidth > 35 nm wavelength-tunable mid-IR fiber laser capable of high-sensitivity optical sensing of several molecular species. The linewidth was 760 MHz (±100 MHz) and has a continuous wavelength tuning range over 35 nm (from 2785 nm~2820 nm) with a maximum output power of 25 mW. The measured linewidths and output powers remain stable over the entire tuning range.
