Defect modes in photonic crystals studied using terahertz time-domain spectroscopy

Abstract

Two-dimensional photonic crystal band gaps have been studied using terahertz time-domain spectroscopy. We observe the effects of defect modes in both the amplitude and phase spectra. These results are in reasonable agreement with calculations.
