Splice-less interfacing of conventional fibers to photonic crystal fibers

Abstract

Coupling into small-core photonic crystal fibers is not easy, even with bulk optics. By adapting the PCF fabrication technique, low-loss adiabatic transitions between single-mode fibers and small-core PCFs are achieved without splicing.
