Self Phase Modulation Induced Spectral Broadening in Silicon Waveguides

Abstract

We have investigated spectral broadening as a mean to generate multiple wavelengths on a silicon chip. A 2× broadening at 22W/µm2 of peak pulse power is demonstrated and a 7× is predicted at 70W/cm2.
