Nondestructive evaluation of ceramic bearings using THz impulse ranging

Abstract

Non-contact Terahertz impulse ranging can detect aluminum oxide bearings damaged by thermal stress. Results using two different analysis techniques are reported which can determine the presence of fractures in a variety of ceramic materials.
