Abstract

Ultrafast electronic Kerr non-linearity in bulk dielectrics is described by the dynamic Franz-Keldysh effect, corresponding to dynamic coherent renormalization of their bandgaps in strong electrical fields of intense IR or visible femtosecond laser pulses.
