Ultra-Low Phase Noise Microwaves from Optical References

Abstract

We show a photonic oscillator providing 10 GHz microwaves having L(f)=−104 dBc/Hz at 1 Hz offset and fractional instability ≤8×10−16 at 1 s. These values are verified by operation and comparison of two independent systems.
