Abstract

We introduce a new approach for generating mid-infrared frequency combs - using degenerate (subharmonic) synchronously-pumped optical parametric oscillation. Octave-wide frequency combs centered at 3.1μm, frequency- and phase-locked to the erbium-fiber pump laser, were demonstrated.
