First Demonstration of Quasi-Phase-Matched Four-Wave-Mixing in Silicon Waveguides

Abstract

We demonstrate quasi-phase-matched four-wave-mixing in silicon nanowires with sinusoidally modulated width. We observe ~11 dB conversion efficiency enhancement for targeted wavelengths >100 nm away from the edge of the 3-dB conversion bandwidth.
