Abstract

The paper presents the wide viewing angle digital holographic video system of real world scenes. It describes the full technology chain and main modules of the 3D holographic video system. The system includes six CCDs (at capture side) and six SLMs (at display side) arranged on a circle. The data processing path is described. Two modes of an image observation are reported: naked eye and by means of an asymmetric diffuser. The problems relevant to image quality and stereoscopic visual perception are discussed. The implementation of spatio-temporal multiplexing methods which provide continuously extended viewing angle of 3D images for both observation modes is presented. The future prospects of 3D holographic video and TV development are discussed.
