Abstract

A rigorous method for designing finite-aperture diffractive optical elements (DOE’s) is reported that employs a micro-genetic algorithm (µGA) and a 2-D Finite-Difference and Time-Domain (FDTD) method. A 1 to 2 beamfanner design example is presented.
