Wavelet Decomposition and Unresolvable Component Analysis of Optical Coherence Tomography Signals

Abstract

A novel technique for the analysis OCT signals is presented. It permits the separation of the signal in resolvable and diffuse components using wavelet decomposition, and the subsequent evaluation of the diffuse part based on autoregressive spectral techniques. The characteristics of the uresolvable, but diagnostically significant, scatters in tissue can be extracted from the latter. This information could considerably improve the clinical utility of OCT.
