Abstract

We present a nonlinear two-dimensional finite-difference time-domain code based on a modification of the original Yee’s algorithm, and discuss the stability of the code and its applicability to photonic crystal devices. We also demonstrate control over the band structure as well as efficient self-focusing in structures containing nonlinear material.
