Phase-only masks for extended depth of field: phase diagram representations

Abstract

We present a family of non-conventional, phase-only masks that increase the depth of field of an optical system. We discuss the use of phase diagrams for describing the frequency response with variable focus errors. We report numerical simulations of the images achieved using our masks.
