Second-order Chiral Responses from Gold Nanoparticles

Abstract

Exceptional second-order chiral responses from arrays of L-shaped gold nanoparticles are observed. Second-harmonic circular difference and susceptibility tensor measurements imply that it is primarily small-scale defects that break the symmetry and render the samples chiral.
