Polarization singularities of focused, radially polarized fields

Abstract

The state of polarization of focused, radially polarized electromagnetic fields is examined. Several types of polarization singularities exist and their relationship is investigated. We demonstrate that polarization singularities can annihilate in a variety of ways.
