Range measurements through turbulent atmosphere based on Laguerre Gaussian modes

Abstract

Coherent superpositions of Laguerre-Gaussian beams are used for range measurements. The impact of atmospheric turbulence is investigated. A scheme is introduced to synthesize beams which are robust against a specified class of perturbations.
