Multiple Scattering Effects on Particle Sizing in Optical Characterization of Biological Tissues

Abstract

We examine the validity of the independent-scattering assumption of particle sizing in biophotonics applications via full-wave solutions. We find a complex dependence of biological tissue’s optical properties on its multi-scale organization of intracellular particles.
