Multipole Metamaterials: A mesoscopic investigation towards effective linear and nonlinear optical material interaction

Abstract

The multipole reinterpretation of plasmonic resonances occurring in metaatoms is presented. The approach allows us to determine effective metamaterial parameters and inherently induces nonlinear optical response by considering higher order multipoles beyond the electric dipole.
